Job Description - Psych Admissions Coordinator (3310561)The Psych Admissions Coordinator helps facilitate patient admissions to inpatient psychiatry, inpatient detoxification, partial hospital programs, and ambulatory addiction recovery services. Supports the mission, vision, and values of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s psychiatric service by providing an excellent patient experience. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, colleagues, and insurance providers to facilitate admissions in a timely manner.Receives incoming phone calls from patients and referring providers requesting acute clinical services for psychiatry and addictions to secure appropriate level of care.Reviews patients seeking admission to PHP, verifies insurance, and schedules intakes.Relays clinical data to determine appropriate level of care for the patient after consulting with the attending physician.Collaborates with all hospital staff members including other clinical departments; assists with interdepartmental requests and liaises with outside provider agencies to address patient needs.Provides professional, accurate, and attentive service to patients: greet patients, respond to patient inquiries via phone calls and/or electronic messages, schedule appointments, facilitate Patient Gateway enrollment, and prior authorization approvals.Maintains and fosters a positive relationship with providers and interdepartmental staff to ensure quality patient care in a comprehensive manner.Maintains compliance with all hospital policies and state and federal regulations (HIPAA, 42 CFR) at all times.Other duties as assigned.About Brigham and Women's Faulkner HospitalBrigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham, is committed to supporting patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community. Our employees call it home.Minimum of 2-3 years of customer service experience.Healthcare experience in mental health preferred.Good communication skills and flexibility to work with the Department of Psychiatry, the referring departments, the patients and families, and insurance providers.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Proficient computer skills to navigate insurance websites and hospital programs.Displays professional verbal and written communication skills with patients, providers, and staff.Able to work independently and manage a fast-paced work environment.Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E.
