The Development Director leads the Development team in four key areas: 1) directing the organization’s current individual donor fundraising activities, 2) cultivating relationships with donors, 3) overseeing marketing and public relations to tell FIRC’s story to the community, donors, and clients, and 4) developing new fundraising strategies and objectives. The Development Manager works closely with FIRC's leadership team, Development Committee, and donors.Responsibilities:
Supervise Development staff, providing leadership and direction by performing administrative duties including but not limited to strengths-based staff supervision and accountability, performance management, timecards, scheduling, and PTO. These essential leadership needs require the ability to perform the work in-person.Coordinate campaigns in partnership with the Development staff and Executive Director, managing individual donor campaigns, special initiatives, and the annual campaign, including strategy input, material development, and implementation.Oversee the maintenance of FIRC’s donor records in the organization’s Raiser’s Edge database, including data entry, keeping donor notes up to date, running reports as needed, and providing acknowledgement letters/tax receipts to donors.Collaborate with the Development Manager, Board of Directors, Executive Director, Development Committee, and volunteers to create and fulfill the annual fundraising budget for operating and endowment funds.Communicate FIRC’s story and the impact of its programs through public relations and marketing strategies, including impact reports and press releases.Oversee the grant-funding strategy, ensuring alignment with overall funding goals by providing high-level support to the Grants Manager throughout the grant-cycle process.Develop, plan, and support fundraising events, house parties, and donor meet-ups, which may require working some evenings or weekends.Assist Capital Campaign through communication and support of the contracted employee designated to oversee the project.Develop and execute strategies for obtaining individual, business, and major donor gifts.Maintain FIRC’s website (using WordPress) and social media accounts, ensuring they provide accurate and relevant information in both English and Spanish.Write persuasive fundraising appeal letters and manage follow-up communications.Coordinate deferred giving and major/endowment fund gifts.Implement and maintain donor recognition programs and publications.Assist with the design of professional graphics for marketing materials that align with FIRC’s brand.Collaborate with the Grants & Evaluation Manager to identify funding gaps and develop solutions.Work with contractors to enhance technology and efficiency using platforms like Bloomerang and Yellowdog.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:
College degree or related experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field preferred.A minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the areas of marketing, public relations, fundraising, or brand development preferred.Proven experience in donor prospecting and cultivation, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse donors.Familiarity with fundraising and donor management software; experience with Raiser’s Edge/Financial Edge strongly preferred.Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, ideally in English and Spanish.Experience in working with diverse communities and programs advocating for equity.Experience with WordPress, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other design platforms.Valid Driver’s License and reliable year-round transportation is required.Candidates may be subject to a background check post-offer of employment.Physical Requirements:
