ManagerialSummary/Position Description:The Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations at Rowan University is a growing enterprise dedicated to providing leadership in facilities, campus planning, development, and maintenance. The Director of Environmental Health and Safety & Fire Safety Services directs and manages the overall operation of the Department of Environmental Health and Life Safety, including workplace safety training, laboratory safety, fire inspection oversight, and collaboration with municipal fire departments and the State Fire Marshall’s office.The Director engages cross-functional leadership over all campuses and continually innovates to achieve a culture of excellence in environmental health and fire safety. This position impacts the overall construction and design activity related to facility structures and engages key stakeholders regarding laboratory and biological safety in support of University research initiatives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees the Department of Environmental Health and Life Safety, including administrative and budgetary responsibilities for all campuses.Develops and partners with Human Resources and Risk Management to enforce the University’s Injury Illness Prevention Program.Acts as the University's liaison with local and state authorities on construction and fire safety matters.Plans and carries out inspections of University property for fire and environmental health hazards.Develops, maintains, and implements EHS policies and programs related to fire protection and safety.Monitors trends and regulations to strategically position the University for compliance.Administers daily operations of Fire Protection and Life Safety programs.Coordinates with the Rowan University Police Department on emergency preparedness and response.Provides leadership to campus safety initiatives and participates in safety and compliance working groups.Conducts field inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with fire safety standards.Develops and implements guidance documents related to Fire Protection and Safety Management.Ensures all life and fire safety certifications are current.Designs and performs fire and life safety education and training programs.Manages the University’s hazardous waste streams.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:Education:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field.Experience:

Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience, including at least six years of supervisory experience.Advertised:
