Job Description:
$76-98K We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist/Sr. Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in managing the procurement of biotech materials and services, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality supplies that meet the organization’s requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end procurement process for materials, equipment, and services.
Assist in developing and implementing procurement strategies.
Establish and maintain vendor relationships and monitor OTIF (On time, In Full).
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to secure advantageous deals.
Utilize and assist with the implementation of “e-tools” (ERP etc.) to help drive the program.
Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices.
Evaluate and select suppliers, pricing, cost-effectiveness, and availability of materials and commodities.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and audits to ensure compliance with contractual terms and quality standards.
Address any supplier issues and work to resolve them promptly.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
Coordinate with the warehouse and logistics teams to manage inventory efficiently.
Implement and manage a system for tracking inventory and procurement activities.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and agreements.
Prepare reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.
Work within budgetary constraints to achieve cost savings.
Monitor and report on expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand procurement needs and ensure alignment with business goals.
Participate in cross-functional teams to support project goals and initiatives.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in procurement within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
Strong knowledge of biotech materials, equipment, and supplier base.
Strong negotiation skills, contract management skills, and experience in managing supplier relationships.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in procurement software and tools.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the biotech industry.
Team player who is accountable for the team’s success in delivering business targets and takes responsibility for decisions and outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CPSM).
Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
