$17.00 - $22.00 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY:

Teen Leaders are responsible for the daily supervision of program participants and assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of program components and activities aligned with the program model. They must provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment consistent with the program model and goals to ensure the success of students. Teen Leaders will lead after-school activities including, but not limited to, physical education, community time, college and career exploration, and academic support. They report directly to the Teen Coordinator and will comply with all standards, policies, and procedures set by the YMCA of Honolulu.AVAILABLE LOCATIONS:

Lead after-school activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for students.Assist Site Coordinators and Youth Directors in overall program operation and supervision of participants while adhering to program policies and standard operating procedures.Develop and implement student-centered clubs and programs that promote cultural understanding, inclusion, and leadership development.Attend all general and site staff meetings and training sessions; be open to criticism, suggestions, and training from other staff.Ensure all facilities, equipment, and supplies at the site are maintained, organized, and clean.Provide individualized support and feedback to ensure student success.Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in youth development and program management.Contribute to program development by suggesting new ideas and providing feedback on improvements.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and incident reports.Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of program quality and student success.Exemplify the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge:Experience engaging middle school youth in recreation, leadership development, and other personal development areas.Skilled in youth program group or classroom management.Exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.Possess a collaborative and flexible mindset that elevates youth voice.Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills.Understanding of working with teens and group management.Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.Ability to develop positive relationships with people from different backgrounds.Lead by example and serve as a model of professionalism.Proficient in Word and Excel, with knowledge of additional software applications preferred.Education/Training:High school diploma or equivalent; current enrollment in or graduation from a higher education program preferred.Strong communication and organizational skills required.Experience facilitating teen group activities preferred.CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (training available upon hire).This position and its pay are dependent on the availability of funds and continuation of the contracted program, which provides programming from June 2024 - July 2025, with the possibility of extension until July 2027.
