Transportation Planning Leader
for our West Region, based in our Los Angeles office. This role is pivotal in driving sustainable urban development solutions through transportation planning and design. This position requires a deep understanding of the policies, programs, and budgets that influence public agency decisions, along with established relationships to effectively engage and serve our clients. Your Transportation Planning portfolio will be developed based on your professional practice and Arup’s priorities, and may include public transit, complete streets, active mobility, sustainability, resilience, equity, policy, and design.The Opportunity
Business Development/Client Relationship Management:Identify and lead the development and execution of business development strategies to win new projects and contracts and diversify services provided to clients.Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients and oversee the preparation of proposals and bid submissions.Act as a project director to lead project teams to technical and commercial success and lead everyday execution of project engineering scope of work.Technical Expertise/Project Delivery:Establish and maintain quality assurance processes and standards to ensure excellence of delivery.Identify and mitigate project risks related to technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.Implement quality control measures to monitor and improve project outcomes and client satisfaction.People Management:Mentor and develop future business leaders, promote learning from successes and challenges in the business.Support the development of technical, commercial, and soft skills development of staff.Commercial Oversight/Project Management:Monitor project budgets, expenses, and financial performance to achieve revenue targets and profit margins.Implement financial controls and risk management practices to mitigate financial risks associated with projects.Ensure that contracts are in alignment with the firm’s commercial objectives and risk tolerance.The Skills:Bachelor's degree in urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.Minimum 15 years of experience in transportation planning.Experience as a project manager and/or project director is required.Experience working in both consulting and public sector is highly desirable.Significant experience working with high-level clients and strong relationships in the Southern California market. A candidate with an established profile in the Southern California market is preferred.Professional Certifications: PE, AICP, PTP, or similar, or be able to acquire the certification within a year of joining Arup.Please note that all applicants must apply directly via the job portal.The Benefits – What we offer you
