Houston, Texas.Key Responsibilities:Serve as subject matter expert for geospatial data within IT Geo Tech & Data (GTD) team.Coordinate activities with survey companies and monitor progress to ensure survey results are delivered on time and within budget.Coordinate the transfer of survey data to the GTD team for interface into SDE.Create and maintain automation workflows/ETLs to integrate spatial and non-spatial data from various sources, including Oxy’s SoRs.Ensure accurate and timely communication of daily operational and project-related updates to stakeholders.Review survey data for completeness and accuracy and provide clarification and/or interpretation for resolution to any questions or discrepancies found.Recognize and fix errors & inconsistencies in geospatial data and fundamental workflows while managing implications of moving data and maps to avoid data connection issues in managing geospatial data.Know how and when to apply datum transformations, recognize, troubleshoot, and repair coordinate reference issues in existing datasets, and determine which projection was likely used for a historical dataset.Create, publish, and manage online content related to web maps and web mapping applications.Be aware of innovative geospatial technologies and trends and integrate where possible.Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Science, Geomatics, or equivalent discipline.Minimum five (5) years of experience working in upstream oil & gas industry.Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining data within SDE databases.Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal, Geospatial Analysis, and Geoprocessing Tools.Proficiency in ArcGIS Web App Builder and knowledge of Experience Builder.Functional expertise in creating and maintaining ArcGIS Portal web apps.Proficiency in FME Desktop.Functional knowledge of Land Surveying methods and field survey operations.Proficiency in Horizontal Reference Systems, Vertical Reference Systems, and Geoids models.Proficiency in Imagery Processing, Digital Elevation Models, LiDAR data, and UAS data.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand customer requests which are frequently in non-technical terms.Desired Qualifications:Geographic Information System certification.Functional knowledge of upstream oil & gas business objectives, jargon, and data concepts.Basic knowledge of SQL Server databases and SQL queries.ArcGIS ModelBuilder and/or FME experience.Functional expertise in Python scripting, VB Script, Arcade scripting.Experience with other Data Visualization tools such as PowerBI and/or Spotfire.Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and SharePoint Development.Excellent people skills with ability to engage at all levels of the organization.Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot geospatial data related issues.Creative and critical thinker with focus on process improvement and efficiencies.Ability to prioritize work with low levels of supervision.Self-driven with a positive attitude and open to new ideas and methodologies.Relocation will not be provided.Occidental does not offer sponsorship of employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions for this role.Occidental is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
