HDR is looking for a GIS Analyst to join our team developing and implementing geospatial solutions for transportation clients and projects. Duties include working in a professional environment with a team of engineers, environmental scientists and transportation planners.The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical, is required.Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of GIS and expertise with Esri software.We are interested in someone who is passionate, self-motivated, and has a strong desire to research, learn, and grow as a GIS professional; someone who can appropriately apply technology to solve problems and provide services to our clients.Successful candidates will be able to develop database schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals and efficiently use web resources to research and problem solve.Our projects include geospatial solutions for desktop, web, and mobile.
In the role of GIS Analyst, we'll count on you to:
Independently conduct advanced spatial analyses using ArcGIS software from Esri and work with project managers and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on transportation planning projectsDevelop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languagesDevelop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goalsDevelop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Story Maps, Collector and Survey 123 within the ArcGIS Online platformCreate maps, databases, and other deliverables on short noticeCommunicate and collaborate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technicalPerform quality control checksPerform other duties as neededSupport GIS tasks for multidisciplinary projectsPreferred Qualifications
6 years practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field may offset 3 years of experienceExtensive experience with Esri Desktop ArcGIS software (Desktop and Pro), scripting and extensions (ModelBuilder, Python, Spatial Analyst, 3d Analyst, Linear Referencing, etc.)Extensive experience in map generation and data visualization.Extensive experiencing with ArcGIS Online platform and associated products such as Experience Builder, Story Maps, Field Maps and Survey 123Expertise with developing Geodatabases and schemas (domains, subtypes), Access/SQL and other databases.Ability to multi-task and stay organized. Highly responsive to requests from clients.GISP Certification a plusEsri Certification a plusExperience using Adobe Illustrator or related graphic software for enhancing quality of GIS mapsFamiliarity with ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal for ArcGIS Server preferredExperience in scripting, database management, and software development is a plusExperience in Transportation Planning and/or ROW Acquisitions/Parcel Management is a plusLocal candidate strongly preferredQualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or closely related fieldA minimum of 3 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field may offset the required years of experienceProficient in use of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS extensions e.g., 3D Analyst, Spatial AnalystProficient in the use of Microsoft 365 AppsWorking knowledge of interoperability toolsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
