This position may be filled at the level of Senior Award Management Officer (Job Code 103981-Senior Sponsored Project Officer) with a salary range of $77,485 - $96,857 or Award Management Officer (Job Code 103979-Sponsored Project Officer) with a salary range of $62,889 - $78,611, depending upon the qualifications and relevant experience of the selected candidate.A remote work option is available.The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) safeguards and advances U-M's research enterprise by providing its partners with efficient pre-award and non-financial post-award services for the compliant administration of externally sponsored grants, contracts, and ancillary agreements.Our office is growing and looking for experienced individuals to provide non-financial post-award services and oversight for the institution. The incumbent in this position reviews, negotiates, and accepts sponsored project awards for the University of Michigan, provides administrative oversight for those awards; and reviews and processes non-financial post-award actions for compliance with sponsor and institutional policies and guidelines.Under management of a Manager, Award Management, this position is responsible for the following:Principal Job Duties for Senior Award Management Officer

Accepts and negotiates a wide range of sponsored research awards and agreements including those resulting from the most non-standard awards.Reviews incoming award terms, flags and addresses unusual circumstances internally and externally.Recommends award agreements for University endorsement and accepts awards using appropriate delegated signature authority.Monitors and communicates changes implemented by sponsors.Ensures compliance with University, federal and agency regulations, policies, forms and guidelines for the conduct of research.Principal Job Duties for Award Management Officer

Oversees and ensures accurate and timely review of incoming award terms.Responsible for accepting awards on behalf of the Institution or recommending for University endorsement.Provides assistance and guidance to University faculty & staff.Reviews and processes non-financial post-award actions for compliance to sponsor and institutional policies and guidelines.Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications for Award Management Officer:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status.Two or more years of experience performing similar job duties.Required Qualifications for Senior Award Management Officer:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status.Four or more years of experience performing similar job duties.Desired Qualifications*

Central office experience at a university performing similar job duties.MBA, JD, or similar advanced degree.Experience in non-financial post-award related to various extramural sponsors.Working knowledge of sponsor software systems.Familiarity with U-M policies and procedures related to research administration.Experience providing excellent customer service.Certification in Research Administration (CRA).Modes of Work
