SUMMARY

The Director of Operations is a dedicated leader that has the ability to approach business with a creative viewpoint. This position plays a key role in overseeing the daily operations and long-term strategic direction of the company’s manufacturing processes, including improving efficiency, ensuring quality standards and driving operational performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.

Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.

Ensures the optimal utilization of resources (labor, materials, and equipment) to meet production goals. Analyze production data and prepare reports on key metrics.

Establish clear goals and KPI’s that are reviewed, evaluated and communicated often to foster a culture of accountability and a continuous improvement mindset.

Coach, teach and train supervisory staff to foster a positive and productive work environment through strong leadership, communication and recognition initiatives.

Continuously evaluates production processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, including implementation of lean manufacturing techniques (Six Sigma or 5S).

Working collaboratively with all levels of the organization to create a system for capturing and sharing knowledge of the manufacturing processes. This includes creating SOP’s, training plans and effective continuous improvement.

Manage and monitor the operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising production efficiency or quality.

Collaborate with leadership to align manufacturing goals with the broader company strategy.

Develop long-term plans for manufacturing, which include asset/equipment review and upgrades, and potential product lines to support growth and market demands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs the required staff level and technical employees to manage/supervise a total of 100 employees and multiple managers. Is responsible for the overall direct coordination and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work. In addition, conducting performance appraisals, disciplining employees, and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BA or BS degree is preferred, or 10+ years related management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and others as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw and implement effective solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
