The Pre-construction Manager is an essential contributor to both project proposal and execution phases, responsible for developing project execution plans during bidding and ensuring a smooth transition into active project management. This role requires expertise in renewable energy or power generation and involves working closely with various teams to establish competitive and feasible project proposals.
Key Responsibilities:Pre-Award Responsibilities:
Develop detailed execution plans for new projects, including scope, timeline, and resource allocation.
Conduct pre-bid site visits to assess project requirements and inform accurate proposal development.
Collaborate with engineering teams to create conceptual designs and technical specifications for project proposals.
Build and sustain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring effective collaboration and understanding of project requirements.
Solicit, review, and align subcontractor bids with internal estimates, working with cross-functional teams to refine budgets and costs.
Partner with estimators, proposal managers, schedulers, and senior leadership to craft competitive proposals that meet client needs.
Post-Award Responsibilities:
Participate in contract negotiations, focusing on scope definition, technical requirements, and compliance.
Review design drawings, offering feedback to enhance design efficiency, quality, and alignment with project goals.
Lead the subcontracting process by issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and negotiating contracts with subcontractors.
Facilitate a seamless transition from pre-construction to project management, ensuring documentation and insights are effectively handed over to the execution team.
Requirements
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, procurement, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), or project development within energy or related fields.
Hands-on experience with subcontracting, contract negotiation, and pre-construction processes in energy or power generation.
Skills:
Strong quantitative, analytical, and leadership skills.
In-depth knowledge of construction processes, including scheduling, procurement, and manpower planning.
Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in project estimating and budgeting.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining positive relationships with subcontractors and internal teams.
Experience managing EPC projects, especially within the renewable energy sector.
Familiarity with critical path scheduling and project timelines.
