As a Litigation Adjuster, you'll handle litigated and high-exposure, complex claims in accordance with the applicable tort laws. You will investigate claims including the initial contact with the insured, doing a thorough investigation, conducting a full coverage review, and identifying relevant legal and coverage issues. Additionally, you will be expected to develop and execute litigation strategy, manage the activities of assigned defense counsel to ensure cost effective resolution of litigated claims, and resolve non-litigated cases that are more complex.
This is afull-time, hybrid position with 2 days per week in office required in our Plano, TX office.
Key Responsibilities:Investigate litigated claims through telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses and others having pertinent information. Attend depositions, mediations and trials as needed.Analyze information, including depositions, expert reports, attorney evaluations, and medical reports, gained from discovery during litigation in order to evaluate assigned claims to determine the extent of loss, taking into consideration contributory or comparative negligence. Assign medical or other experts to case and arrange for medical examinationsInvestigate coverage and draft coverage letters.Do a full liability and damages analysis.Process incoming calls and correspondence from insureds, claimants and attorneys regarding questions or problems associated with claims.Evaluate, negotiate and settle litigated claims within delegated authority. Handle litigation files from start to finish.Receive and approve expenses incurred to investigate, process, and handle a claim.Prepare check requisitions for all loss and expense payments.Explore subrogation and risk transfer potential on all claims.Prepare for and participate in claims review and settlement conferences.Close claim by issuing check or disclaimer and secure appropriate releases.Qualifications:
5 - 7 years of claims litigation adjusting experience
High exposure claim handling preferred
Adjusters License for FL, TX, LA, and OK requiredAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills and ability to clearly document and communicate the basis for decisions madeExcellent written skills that demonstrate clear, professional and succinct communications for file documentation, internal communications and external correspondenceStrong organizational and time-management skillsCourteous and professional telephone communicationsAbility to work in a team environment and maintain calm demeanor even during heated circumstancesBenefits:
