The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events, as well as facilities, parks and open spaces!
SPRING VALLEY
Spring Valley Nature Center and Heritage Farm features 135 acres of prairie, woodlands and wetlands, three miles of walking trails, a nature center, an 1880s living history farm and the Bison's Bluff Nature Playground. Spring Valley offers numerous youth and family programs, summer camps, and special events throughout the year. Its thriving volunteer program is responsible for much of the operational support for these programs as well as the upkeep of the grounds and conservation areas.
JOB SUMMARY
The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for all onboarding, placement, communications, and scheduling of volunteers for Spring Valley. Additional responsibilities include managing a volunteer hours database and planning recognition events. The role also includes soliciting involvement and partnerships with community groups and service clubs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess superior inter-personal skills (personable, patient and flexible), excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. B.A. in Human Resources or related field preferred or at least one year of experience successfully managing volunteer programs. Proficiency with MS-Word and Excel; and familiarity with GoogleDocs necessary. Possess a flexible schedule that permits working occasional evenings and weekends.
SCHEDULING, PAY & PERKS
This is a year-round, part-time position paying $20.00/hour. Normal schedule is 28 hours per week (including occasional weekends and evenings). This is a PART-TIME LEVEL 4 position and is eligible for the following internal privileges:
