Job Description:
The Department Head, Natural Sciences position is a 12-month administrative position with an anticipated start date of January 2025. The Department Head will manage day-to-day operations of the department, supervise all programs offered by the department, develop course schedules, make faculty course assignments, supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff, manage the departmental budget, advise students, review and update departmental curricula, hire and supervise adjunct faculty, work toward the resolution of student complaints, lead the process to pursue or maintain the accreditation of programs, serve on College committees, oversee planning and assessment activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Dean, Baccalaureate Studies and Academic Support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree in a biological science, physical science, or a content-related field, and two years of full-time teaching or administrative experience. Must be qualified to teach in one of the department's disciplines. The successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctoral degree in a biological science, physical science, or a content-related field.
SALARY RANGE:
$65,000.00 - $70,000.00
