Overview

Groom Law Group seeks a Professional Development Manager who will be responsible for assisting firm leadership in supplementing and implementing the Firm's strategy for the professional development of attorneys of all levels. The Professional Development Manager will have primary responsibility for the coordination of the training, mentoring, career development, and continuing education requirements of attorneys and paralegals.

Responsibilities

Working closely with various leaders within the Firm, including the Executive Principal, Executive Directors, Practice Group Leaders, and committee chairs.Designing, implementing, and managing in-house professional development programs to meet the Firm's objectives and foster professional growth and retention, collaborating with:

Practice Group Leaders on the development of attorneys' substantive skills and subject matter expertiseOur Professional Development Committee on professional skillsOur Diversity & Inclusion Committee and our Women's Initiative to provide support and assist on the Firm's many diversity initiatives

Identifying effective, evidence-based strategies to support the development of attorneys in a hybrid work setting where some attorneys work remotely and others work in the office.Assisting with new attorney integration.Identifying innovative strategies to enhance ongoing associate recruitment and retention efforts.Overseeing our "Peer-to-Peer" mentoring program for new associates and assist in the development of other formal and informal mentoring opportunities.Tracking and helping to coordinate with Practice Group Leaders the workloads of associates and counsel, within and across practice groups.Providing ongoing support for individual associates in their development, and acting as a liaison with various committees and departments, as needed. This will include assisting associates in developing a plan to implement feedback they receive through the Firm's associate review process, in coordination with the Professional Development Committee and the associate's Practice Group Leader.Maintaining relationships with professional development organizations, and monitoring and highlighting trends in the legal industry.Compiling relevant statistical information related to attorney recruiting, diversity, retention, and development.Maintaining the Firm's calendar for all training initiatives, as well as the database for the materials, agenda, and CLE accreditation pertaining to each course.Coordinating applications for continuing legal education (CLE) credits for both attorney and client events.Reporting D.C., Maryland, and Virginia CLE credits for internal programs and client events, and coordinate payment of fees.Qualifications

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required; a JD from an accredited law school is greatly preferred.5+ years of previous professional development or related experience required in a law firm setting.Additional Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent attention to detail.The ability to independently solve problems with minimal supervision.A high degree of professionalism and the ability to work well with employees at all levels of the Firm.The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of discretion.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.The ability to work extended hours when necessary.Compensation

Base salary up to $180,000 commensurate with experienceFull benefits including medical/dental/vision, life insurance, 401K contribution, generous paid leave policies, family-planning benefits, tuition reimbursement, etc.
