The

Veterinarian

provides leadership, direction and guidance to Remedy staff, ensuring goals and objectives are achieved. Provides the highest quality of care, including examinations, surgeries and treatments for client animals. This is a part time position with an anticipated work schedule of 25 hours per week.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist in the implementation of goals, policies, and procedures for the Remedy team; recommends changes in procedures as neededProvide lead direction to staff responsible for following prescribed treatment and maintaining treatment records for client animalsEnsure that the highest level of service and care are provided and that changes in animals' conditions are recordedExamine animals, evaluates animals' health and performs veterinary medical and surgical procedures including but not limited to vaccinations, prescribing and administering of medications, anti-parasite treatments, tests and lab work, and spay and neuter surgeryPerform physical exams, evaluates animal health and provides medical treatmentEstablish and maintain medical record and drug use logs to standards of veterinary and sheltering practices; ensure that records are in order and completeEnsure that all state and federal laws, state regulations, and accepted standards and procedures regarding clinic operations, the practice of veterinary medicine, drug control, and animal care and handling are adhered toMaintain up-to-date knowledge of animal health protocols, surgical procedures and companion animal health issuesBuild effective relationships through positive interaction and communication with the community, volunteers and staffAssist in monitoring inventory and ordering of medical supplies and pharmaceuticalsMaintain high level of performance to support and achieve the service and financial goals of the Veterinary CenterQualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or universityPossession of a current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of GeorgiaPossession of current DEA distribution licenseMinimum three to five years of professional veterinary medical experienceKnowledge of local animal control laws and state humane laws and their application to the general publicTeam-oriented and ability to communicate effectively with the public, fellow employees and volunteersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsWillingness and ability to adjust to tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and prioritiesDemonstrate flexibility, organization, self-motivation, ability to work independently and as a member of a teamHandle agency funds in accordance with established verbal and written agency guidelinesValid GA driver's license or ability to obtain a valid GA driver's license and must be insurable by AHS's insurance providerRequires humane handling of animals and safe handling of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety rules and according to SDS rulesAbility to lift, pull or push up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodations
