About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Director/Senior Director, Field Medical Affairs - Migraine to lead its Migraine Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team. In collaboration with the broader Medical Affairs team, the Director/Senior Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans and objectives that support Axsome's migraine asset. The Director/Senior Director, Field Medical Affairs - Migraine will build and mentor the Migraine MSL team and be responsible for driving performance. They will also maintain and develop relationships with migraine and thought leaders. This position will report to the Executive Director, Field Medical Affairs.
Job Responsibilities and Duties

Medical Affairs:
Plan, facilitate, and deliver nonclinical & clinical presentations at Medical Affairs advisory board meetings and/or other meetings that involve HCPsEnsure regular capture and exchange of medical information and insights with other functions as appropriate for Medical Affairs to inform on strategy and unmet medical needsServe as a technical advisor and represent Medical Affairs at scientific and/or medical meetings, advisory boards, and investigator meetingsEstablish and maintain a compliant partnership with the commercial teamSupport/lead various Medical Affairs cross-functional working groups as neededDevelop and maintain thought leader relationshipsMaintain and demonstrate thorough and up-to-date knowledge of disease state, study methodology, clinical information, and product dataManage assigned programs within their designated scope, schedule, and budgetTeam Development/Leadership:
Recruit, train, develop and retain a growing, high-performing team of field-based MSLsEnsure individual MSL territory plans and activities for the region align with departmental objectivesEstablish and oversee collaboration between MSLs to support and optimize communication of key learnings, best practices, and insights generationIdentify and implement unmet educational needs for MSL materialsRepresent MSL team on cross-functional project teamsManage the performance of the individual team members and monitor their overall performance by regularly monitoring their performance against the agreed goals and KPIsConduct regular performance reviews for individual team membersEnsure field compliance of all relevant corporate policies and regulatory guidelinesDirect field-based Medical Affairs attendance and coverage at congresses and meetingsEnsure operational excellence of the MSL team, including corporate aligned objective/tactics, cross-functional medical support, and interactions with key opinion leadersParticipate as a member of the Field Medical Leadership team and assume responsibilities to develop and advance the functionRequirements / Qualifications
Advanced scientific or clinical degree (D.O, M.D, PharmD, or PhD) is requiredAt least 7 years of experience in a field-based Medical Affairs roleAt least 2 years of experience leading MSL teamsCNS experience required: migraine therapeutic experience strongly preferredWorking knowledge of applicable Federal and State guidelines and regulations essentialEstablished relationships with migraine thought leaders highly desirableAbility to work in a dynamic and nimble environment and be solution oriented to changing needsAbility to travel 40% of time, including some weekendsExperience and Knowledge
Experience using corporate databases and software, including SharePoint and Veeva essentialPresents an understanding of relevant clinical and therapeutic mattersAbility to solve analytical problems, and show decision-making skills oriented towards delivering outcomesAbility to exercise latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments and future conceptsDemonstrated ability to foster relationships, gain alignment, adapt and change activities to achieve results and outcomesAbility to collaborate and work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to align departmental and individual objectives & KPIs; Ability to mitigate risk to achieve goals and outcomesDemonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilitiesAbility to adapt communication and management style for differing audiencesAbility to advise others on difficult employee matters including performance managementExemplifies and demonstrates company values and actively encourages others to demonstrate appropriate behavior
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $210,000 - $240,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
