The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) provides statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by Ohioans. The Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services works with offenders in Ohio's prisons to facilitate life change, foster renewed responsibility and build the opportunity to become productive restored citizens. Recovery Services Correctional Program Coordinators (Counselors) use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills in the treatment of offenders who need substance use recovery treatment and programming.

Duties of the Correctional Program Coordinator include: Providing alcohol & drug counseling & other ancillary services to inmates on assigned caseload. Completes intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes & discharge planning on inmates. Coordinates with other treatment services (e.g., medical, mental health, education, recreation, volunteer & community services providers) for the purpose of individualized treatment planning, utilizing a coordinated treatment approach. Monitors attendance & participation progress of inmates in substance abuse programs. Reviews case files & termination of program participation. Provides continuing care planning; intervenes in crisis situations. Reviews inmate files for program admission consideration & treatment planning. Contacts Adult Parole Authority (APA) &/or chemical dependency specialists regarding inmate activities. Develops & coordinates substance abuse programming for inmates (e.g., substance abusing/mentally ill) as assigned. Monitors activities of volunteers; facilitates support/fellowship meetings & provides technical assistance & training to volunteers involved in the recovery services program. Participates in program quality assurance activities to include peer utilization & clinical record reviews. Attends seminars & conferences. Must conduct self professionally and in a law-abiding manner at all times & in accordance with the OhioMHAS & ODRC Standards of Employee Conduct. Performs other duties as assigned. Job location:

Qualifications

Option 1: Must hold current certification or credentials in one of following: - Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II) - Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III) - Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) - Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by State of Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board. - Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) by State of Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board. - Professional Counselor (PC) by State of Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board. - Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by State of Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board. - Licensed Physician by State of Ohio Medical Board. - Licensed Psychologist by State of Ohio Board of Psychology. - Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing. - Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage & Family Therapist Board. - Licensed Independent Marriage & Family Therapist licensed by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage & Family Therapist Board.
