Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning for clinical trials, as well as other R&D activities, as needed. Develop clinical trial financial models and scenario analysis to support clinical development plans. Partner with Clinical Project Teams and Finance to build clinical study budgets and forecasts that harmonize with project timelines and key assumptions. Identify financial risks related to clinical trials and provide actionable insights for decision-making and cost reductions. Lead monthly clinical trial accruals process. Provide accounting with accurate expenses for CROs, Investigator fees and other external vendors. Ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with regulatory standards. Support quarterly external auditor reviews and annual audits. Manage or support Quarterly Reporting and Variance Analysis process for clinical studies. Manage quarterly clinical trial reporting activities including liaison with clinical operations and vendors to establish study enrollment, work completed to date, current and estimated budget spend, study budget projections for new studies, etc. Assess, implement and manage clinical finance systems related to supporting an efficient monthly clinical accrual and forecasting process. Partner with relevant internal and external team members, Accounting and Finance to ensure robust testing and adherence to implementation timelines. Act as liaison between Finance and Clinical Operations teams for finance-related activities and as the clinical finance representative for project teams. Enhance operational efficiency and execution by developing internal and external benchmarks Provide financial insights and advice to clinical operations team as they evaluate and execute clinical studies and the impact of scope changes on overall clinical budgets. Provide guidance and recommendations to help project teams identify trade-offs and levers to execute efficiently Develop quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and ad-hoc analysis to support Denali Management and the BOD Provide strategic finance business support to business leaders

Qualifications/Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.7+ in biotech/pharma clinical research industry; 3 years of clinical finance (business operations and management) experience preferredStrong understanding of forecasting and budget modeling, especially for clinical trialsStrong understanding of the drug development process and the cross-functional responsibilities including clinical trial design, study start-up and execution, site management, safety reporting, data management, and biometrics.Good understanding of strategic outsourcing and vendors within the clinical landscapeStrong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to be able to engage with all levels both within Denali Therapeutics and entities and with our CRO and clinical service providers.Forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standards.Experience with clinical trial financial systems and toolsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelingAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with drug development professionals.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to lead and manage cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion.High attention to detail and solid organizational skills with excellent ability to communicate both visually and verbally.

Salary Range: $167,000.00 to $201,667.00 . Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
