Position Purpose
The Tasting Room Manager provides day to day leadership and manages daily tasting room operations including direct responsibility for the Black Stallion Estate Winery (BSEW) Tasting Room. The Tasting Room Manager creates sales strategies, promotions, and tasting room events to meet and exceed Tasting Room Revenue goals. The Manager leads the tasting room team, developing and managing industry leading, customized tasting room guest experiences. The Manager ensures the tasting room team is aligned with managerial practices and policies in an effort to provide a productive and cohesive operation.
Functional Responsibility
Manages and monitors day-to-day operations and team performance to ensure smooth workflows and that company standards are metManages company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions; encourages strong work ethic and fosters an environment of trust and respectDevelops and aligns individual goals with the department's operational goals; ensures that decisions, actions, and priorities are aligned with the company's vision, mission, and strategiesResearches best practices, stays abreast of industry trends, and maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operationsAssists in preparing the departmental budget, monitors spending, and directs team in cost-effective operations to ensure adherence to financial objectivesMonitors performance and regularly communicates with direct reports to achieve mutual understanding and desired resultsPartners with immediate manager to determine staffing needs; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve goals and objectivesProvides employees with a safe, healthy, and rewarding work environment; ensures delivery and completion of monthly safety topicsCommunicates and supports change initiatives and decisions in an effective manner to successfully guide team through changeFosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovationAddresses employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner; notifies HR Business Partner and keeps immediate manager informed as appropriateEnsures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisionsCoaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficienciesEssential Duties
Works with the BSEW Vice President of Direct to Consumer to develop annual direct sales plan and creates sales programs to achieve annual goals; responsible for the continued growth and development of all direct to customer sales through the tasting room; analyzes tasting room sales and develops new promotions as neededReviews, researches, and resolves tasting room related monthly P&L; submits and/or reports tracking measures and cross functional meeting dataResponsible for tasting room daily sales reconciliation and bank deposits; submits change orders as needed; provides sales and sales recap to Accounting DepartmentCoordinates with leadership team on winery wide issuesCreates and sends gratuity and incentive reports bi-weekly to Accounting and Human Resources for payroll processingCollaborates with Public Relations, Sales, and Marketing departments to promote the BSEW brand, culture and imageManages tasting room experiences providing day-to-day leadership and support; helps develop and maintain luxury standards of guest service and wine tasting experienceDevelops and executes outreach programs to tour/limo companies and hotel conciergesMaintains a professional image within the Napa community and local hospitality industry as a representative of BSEWResponsible for sourcing, ordering and establishing par inventory levels of Tasting Room suppliesResponsible for sourcing, ordering, receiving, inventorying, pricing and displaying all non-wine merchandise in the BSEW Tasting Room*Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred5+ years combined work experience in tasting room, winemaking or hospitality field3+ years management experience at a winery or related fieldMust be 21 years of age in order to pour, serve, and taste wineKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be 21 years of age in order to pour, serve, and taste wineHigh level organizational and time management skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsPossesses a broad knowledge of wine and varietalsIs self-motivated, able to act independently to solve problemsMeets changing priorities in the workplace with flexibility and enthusiasmProfessional appearance and demeanorProficient in retail software and Microsoft Office suite, including Word & ExcelMust be able to work evenings, weekends and holidaysCertificates and Licenses
Responsible Beverage Service Certificate requiredProfessional wine certification a plus (Sommelier, CSW, WSET)Working Conditions

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $76,353.84 to $119,397.60. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
