Description
Manage and coordinate all activities associated with the Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment Facilities, tracking and enforcing all regulatory agencies, laws, and regulations, advising operations staff in sampling and reporting deadlines for the water and wastewater treatment systems. This position will monitor all plant and regulatory permits and create and communicate all sampling and reporting schedules to ensure all Wastewater Treatment and/or Water Treatment Facilities continue to meet or exceed compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agenciesExamples of Duties
Coordinate and monitor all wastewater/water utility environmental compliance activitiesProvide for communication, documentation, and reporting to all regulatory agencies. This includes tracking permit requirements and regulations, and developing and presenting complex compliance reports and sampling plansGathers information to assist in the preparation of studies and reports related to water and wastewater system performanceProvide technical assistance in the analysis and investigation of excursions or exceedances of waste discharge requirements at the wastewater treatment plantsEnsures all wastewater and water utility permits and reports are in compliance, and all reports are submitted to the appropriate regulatory agency in a timely manner prior to the due date, and are complete as to content and formMonitors and inspects special programs for complianceResponsible as directed to monitor special programs such as cross connection control, reclaimed water systems, Industrial Waste Program, and any reports needed for all utility operations compliance needsDevelop, implement, and maintain accurate filing systems for environmental records and monitoring reportsLead investigations, recommend corrective actions, and maintain investigation recordsResearches and recommends changes to existing policies and procedures related to regulatory compliancePlan, develop, and implement policies and procedures related to regulatory complianceCollect sampling and surveys; write reports and chronologiesFacilitate compliance with all laws, regulations; assure the development and maintenance of an accurate filing system for documentation or complianceAll other duties as assignedTypical Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent requiredMinimum of five (5) years of experience in water and wastewater utility compliance operations or an equivalent combination of training and experienceMust posses a valid State of Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireA State of Florida Water and/or Wastewater Operator's License - Class C is preferredA dual license in both Water and Wastewater Operations is preferredKnowledge of federal, state, local guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations regarding water and sewer utility systems and equipmentKnowledge of water and wastewater operation and maintenance processes and controlsMust be computer literate and capable of using a computer-based preventative maintenance programAbility to work safely and communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to remain calm in stressful conditionAbility to establish written guidelines and sampling plans for water and wastewater operations following all policies and proceduresKnowledge of occupational safety rules and practices
City employees with Full-time status receive 100% paid Health Insurance.
