Job Title: OR RN Supervisor
Job Summary: Provides supervision, management and leadership of surgical services and staff. Principal responsibilities include oversight of the daily operations by managing resources within an efficient cost structure and creating an environment of staff accountability in order to deliver high-quality patient outcomes. The OR RN Supervisor serves as a role model promoting competent patient care and compliance with quality improvement programs. This position manages surgical schedules, staff schedules and organizational needs. Employs communication and effective collaboration with staff, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other nursing and non- nursing leaders to provide optimal patient care and flow.
Reports to: Director of Surgical Services
Essential Job Functions/Objectives:
Provides daily direction and communication to ensure clinical care is delivered promptly, efficiently, and safely.
Assists in developing departmental staffing plan, includes self in staffing plan, monitors overstaffing, and overtime based on demand-capacity Including call and emergency preparedness planning/ staffing.Assists with payroll coding, data entry, and submission.Leads huddles, in-services, education, may be asked to lead staff meetings, and/or take meeting minutes.Engages in employee/patient event investigation and resolution.Conduct annual reviews that foster mutual goal setting and feedback on performance.Assists with mentoring, coaching, counseling, mediation, and discipline, including the development of performance plans and termination processes with the guidance from the director, senior leadership, and HR.
Leads department quality improvement projects and education.
Identifies and resolves complex or recurring operational problems and consults with the Director of Surgical Services.Assists with developing and utilizing a process for effective fiscal management, including utilization of materials and supplies.Supports a quality assurance program that incorporates patient care standards, complies with ASH core values, and CMS guidelines and standards.Participates in developing patient care policies and procedures.Participates in the development of annual department goals and objectives.
Communicates and collaborates inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally to assure objectives are being met. Responsible for communication with medical staff, leadership, and outside vendors when necessary.
Assist in communicating department/leadership decisions and policies to staff, vendors, and physicians.Facilitate the flow of information from medical staff to the nursing staff regarding patient care procedures, needs, and equipment.
Helps oversee employee hiring process, orientation, and competency assessments.
Engage in ongoing feedback to the effectiveness of staff members in their roles.Participates in the recruitment process, screening candidates, interviewing candidates, and selection of staff.
Attends Hospital Leadership meetings when appropriate.Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
Serves as a role model, demonstrating effective patient care, leadership, and professional behavior.Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel, and strategic issues. Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment. Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments.Goes above and beyond to better the working environment for all Animas Surgical Hospitals staff.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Certification, Licensure: Current state license as a registered nurse; current CPR certification; ACLS, or PALS per policy. CNOR preferred.
Experience, Training, Knowledge: Previous experience as an RN in related care area preferred. Must be able to multitask. High level written and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50)+ pounds while administering care to
patients, etc; stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily in delivery of patient care, starting IV's, obtaining medications/equipment, etc.; standing and walking more than five (5) hours per day in administering patient care in multiple rooms; running occasionally in responding to patient care emergencies.
Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures:
Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.
ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS - Aligns with CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel
Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
Influenza- mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
Tuberculosis Screening- All new-hires undergo a two-step TB skin test
