Position Summary
The LSU School of Medicine invites applicants for the position of Department Head of Radiology. The Department Head is responsible for oversight of the faculty, staff and residents to advance the educational, clinical and research missions of the department and the School of Medicine. The Department Head will report directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine and work closely with the leadership of University Medical Center - New Orleans and other hospitals at which the department faculty provide clinical services. Incumbent will also have the opportunity to work with other clinical and basic science department heads and with directors of our multidisciplinary centers of excellence: the Cardiovascular Center, Neuroscience Center, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center and Cancer Center.
The successful applicant must have good leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to outstanding clinical care, quality improvement, education and biomedical research. The successful candidate should be able to provide a vision of excellence for the Department. A record of achievements in clinical service, administration, process improvement, teaching, multi-disciplinary collaborative research and faculty mentorship are essential. The successful candidate will also work with the departmental staff, dean's office administration, the faculty group practice (LSU HealthCare Network), and the staff and administration of hospitals to maintain, expand and improve the department's clinical activities.
