About the role:
We are currently seeking a
Labor Relations Manager
to join our Human Resources team at our Shoal Creek Mine, located in Oakman, Alabama. Peabody's Shoal Creek Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents. Shoal Creek Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in the United States. Located on the Black Warrior River, this site produces one of the highest qualities of met coal in the United States. With nine-foot-tall workings, a brand-new longwall, and 15+ years of projected coal reserves, Shoal Creek mine is an ideal place to work.
Located in between Jefferson, Walker, and Tuscaloosa counties in Alabama, this area offers beautiful rivers and lakes, landscapes, and rolling hills at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. Oakman is about an hour from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, both of which provide diverse, family-friendly communities with something for everyone, such as vibrant downtowns, safe, friendly neighborhoods, and excellent schools, including the University of Alabama and other area colleges.

Responsibilities:
The
Labor Relations Manager
will work closely with Shoal Creek leadership team and provide support in labor relations, employee relations, collective bargaining agreement (CBA), interpretation and guidance. They will also assist in general human resource activities to achieve a high performing workforce for profitable business operations.
Duties will include:Ensure satisfactory labor relations guidance and direction, at all levels, on contractual and policy interpretation.Assist Company representatives in settling grievances with union represented employees.Lead, partner, and consult in the development, implementation, and integration of HR strategies, programs, processes, policies, and procedures for the location. Ensure consistency of actions within the larger US Operations platform.Act as internal consultant for Employee Relations issues, policy interpretation, and disciplinary procedures. Lead investigations and make recommendations for action based on the findings and in keeping with past practice .Ensure compliance, adherence, and application of CBA and policies are administered and addressed effectively.Assist in improving management/workforce relations through the development and implementation of an effective CBA and labor relations training program.Manage and maintain represented personnel manpower from hire to retire.Ensuring contractual obligations, (job bids, contractual days) are met and maintained for the life of the CBA.Provide support to department supervisors and managers on consistent interpretation and application of wage agreement obligations.Lead, partner, and consult in the preparation and organization of human resources and labor relations reporting.Ability to spend time with workforce in the underground and surface environments.Ensure governmental compliance of employment and management practices. Maintain the facilities AA/EEO Programs (AA Plan, Applicant flow logs). Promote diversity and inclusion at the mine. Maintain required documentation.Perform routine human resource assignments according to established guidelines.The Lifestyle:
This position will work Monday-Friday on a day shift schedule. This position may also require the necessity to work weekends, holidays, or another shift as deemed necessary. We provide 401K matching, medical, dental and vision health plans with minimal cost to the employee. Benefit eligibility and PTO starts on your first day of work.
About you:
Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business, or a related field.Minimum of seven to ten years of professional level human resource experience.Any combination of relevant education, experience, and training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications.Ability to contribute and work well on a team.Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.Solid verbal, written, and communication skills.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Must have high safety standards for self and others.Must be well organized for handling multiple projects while focusing on detail.Must possess ability to make sound decisions.Experience with SAP, Success Factors, and Kronos is a plus.Physical Requirements - Office:
Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment.Must be able to use a computer.Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands.
