Location:Muhlenberg Elementary Center Full Time Second Shift Job Description.Position Guide and Job Description Inside Custodian Person- District Wide II. Organizational Position In joining the Building Services department you share in the responsibility of keeping our facilities clean, safe, functional and secure. Your primary responsibilities will include, but not necessarily limited to, accomplishing tasks in specific areas identified by building "work plans." Other duties include, but are not limited to, security, special assignments or project work, and outside duties listed below or identified by the Building Services/Custodial Supervisor. This position is full time, forty hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work other shifts when needed. Position may require overtime on weekends and holidays. This position reports to the Building Services/Custodial Supervisor. III. General Scope of Responsibilities a) Mechanical: ? Daily check of floor cleaning equipment. b) Grounds: ? Grass cutting, shrub trimming mulching, weeding, fertilizing, etc. ? Trash pickup and disposal. ? District mail and bank runs. c) Athletic Fields and Tennis Courts: ? Perform custodial/cleaning duties in field houses, dug-outs, press boxes, locker rooms lavatories, and concession stands. d) Snow Removal: ? Includes all District roadways, walking paths, turn around, sidewalks and play areas. Snow removal is a District priority and all personnel are expected to report to work as directed by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor and/or Building Services/Custodial Supervisor. e) Inside Custodial Responsibilities and Expectations: ? Complete all assigned tasksin a professional manner. ? Maintain tools and supplies in a neat and organize manner. Keep supply, storage and utility closets clean and orderly. Maintain an inventory for the same. ? Keeps work carts neat and orderly. ? Follow allsafety rules and directives without exception. ? Safe handling, use andmeasurement of chemicals. 2 ? Familiar with building evacuation routes, activating fire pull stations, use of fire extinguishers and overall emergency procedures. ? Wear personal protective equipment as needed or directed. ? Possess a positive and cooperative approach to duties assigned. ? Comply with and support energy management programs and directives. ? Be congenial, courteous and respectful of Supervisors, peers, faculty and students. ? Be punctual and cognizant of work times. Do not overextend or abuse break times. ? Attend personal or job related self-improvement seminars or training sessions as time and resources allow or as directed. ? Proficient with use and care of power cleaning equipment, special cleaning systems/techniques, (old and new), and use of chemicals Prepare to train others as necessary. ? Maintain personal hygiene and good grooming habits. Keep clothing clean, neat and free of disrepair f) Work Related and Physical Demands: ? Able to climb and work off at least a twelve foot ladder, scaffolding, and vertical lifts without restrictions. ? Able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, reach overhead as often as needed during an 8-hour workday. (See attached physical requirements.) ? Able to work alone and unsupervised. ? Must have a valid driver's license. ? Able to perform work in a safe manner at all times. ? Must be flexible with work hours, i.e., evening, Saturday, Sunday, Holidays and as needed. ? Able to withstand changes in environmental conditions inside and outside the work facility ? Able to walk and move around the work area for an extended period of time. ? Able to raise or lower objects from one level to another. ? Able to push or pull objects as needed. ? Able to carry objects (up to 50 lbs.) in arms or by other appropriate means. ? Able to use hands and arms to reach and pick up objects. ? Able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses. ? Able to perceive speech or nature of sounds in the air, in person, and on the telephone. ? Able to coordinate eyes, hands and fingers rapidly. ? Able to walk moderate distances inside and outside of facilities and able to climb steps. IV. Required Qualifications a) High School Graduate or equivalent. b) Knowledge and operation of power cleaning equipment. c) Able to read, write and understand the English language including following instructions and respond in writing to written instructions. d) Custodial experience, preferably in a K-12 setting, including care of hard and soft floor surfaces. e) Ability to follow work instructions, building work plans, and written and/or oral instructions. f) Job flexibility and adaptability. g) Capable of working independently with little or no supervision. h) Ability to work within a team setting and follow a team leader's direction to complete objectives. i) Familiarity with cleaning agents and the capability to understand/follow product labels and material safety data sheets. 3 j) Ability to handle and use chemicals properly and safely. k) Willing to train to advance job knowledge and self-improvement. l) Must pass a physical examination as a prerequisite for hire m) Current Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances required by the laws of Pennsylvania; any other clearances that may be required by law. n) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable.
