This Employee Relations Specialist serves as the center of expertise for Endeavor Human Resources policies, practices and procedures. The ER Specialist administers and assists management in the application of corporate policies and activities to ensure consistency. This position serves as an internal consultant to managers regarding complex employee relations matters, Endeavor policy interpretation and application, wage and hour compliance, FMLA, Harassment policy, Leave of Absence policies, and union avoidance strategies. Position will require travel between Endeavor entities.

What you will do:

Investigates complaints and/or charges filed both internally and externally regarding violations of Endeavor policies, state and federal laws governing employment practices, and prepares appropriate responsesReview all corrective actions; reviews requests for suspensions and terminations to ensure compliance with Endeavor policies and proceduresGathers and organizes all necessary documentation for information requests and assists in hearings as necessaryProvides investigatory support to Director in complex employee relations matters and in the employee resolution processAssists Director and outside legal counsel in preparation for unemployment and government agency hearingsServes as an internal consultant to managers regarding complex employee relations matters, NorthShore policy interpretation and application, wage and hour compliance, FMLA, Harassment policy, Leave of Absence policies, and union avoidance strategiesPartners with Director to prepare and present management training in connection with employment practices, changes in policies and procedures, and in-service education as warrantedEnsure consistency with practice and administration of policies and proceduresRepresents Human Resources on various Endeavor committees as assignedParticipate in organization initiatives as assigned by DirectorOther duties as assignedWhat you will need:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.Experience: 3 years+ HR generalist and/or employee relations experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting; labor relations experience preferredUnique or Preferred Skills:Demonstrates in-depth and current knowledge of local, state and federal laws pertaining to employment policies and practicesAbility to assist managers in the resolution of personnel and labor issues through advice and counsel, demonstrating creativity and flexibilityDemonstrates ability to prepare and present written material (investigation reports, employee resolution process responses, position statements) as requiredDemonstrates PC proficiency in the areas of word-processing, spreadsheets and other proprietary systemsStrong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to handle public contact with discretion, tact and courtesyAbility to prioritize and organize work, work independently, and make sound and defensible decisions.
