Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Reviews requisitionsConfers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedulesSelects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining itemsEstimates values according to knowledge of market priceDetermines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bidPrepares purchase orders or bid requestsReviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authorityMaintains manual or computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventoriesDiscusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective actionMay approve invoices for paymentMay expedite delivery of goods to usersQualifications and Requirements:
Knowledge of product and service vendor sourcesKnowledge of purchasing procedures and practicesAbility to analyze varying product and service features, prices and qualities, and determine most cost effective purchase for organizationAssociate's or Bachelor's degree preferred or certification/licensing in a program of 18 months to 3 years duration in commercial work including purchasing and inventory management3-5 years of purchasing experience in the poultry, beef, seafood, or dairy industryProficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong negotiation and communication skillsGood time management and attention to detailExcellent organization skillsBenefits you will enjoy:
