What You'll Do in This PositionSRNS' NNSA Operations & Programs operates the Savannah River Tritium Enterprise, the nation's only facilities for extracting, recycling, purifying and reloading tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen that is a key element of modern nuclear weapons. SRTE supports five tritium and gas transfer system-related missions on behalf of NNSA: tritium supply, stockpile maintenance, stockpile evaluation, helium-3 recovery, and research and development (R&D).This position is a drafter supporting upkeep of the SRTE configuration management documents (drawings, system walkdowns, design changes, amendment incorporation, etc.).Will be required to work on teams as well as independently. Responsible to ensure the technical baseline design drawings for facility systems are maintained in compliance with site manuals/procedures, and amendments are accurate and incorporated with the proper authorization in a very structured controlled manner to ensure the proper configuration control of the design documents. Evaluates the drawing amendments to verify the changes can be made to the drawings as shown, execute the drawings changes using MicroStation CAD, and route the drawings to the proper authorities for review. Will work closely with Facility Engineers to assist them with creating amendments and perform field walk downs to help specify the design changes needed as well as investigate what components can be utilized for the changes. May function in a variety of coordinator roles that support the facility health such as equipment, facility, or area field walk downs. Under direct guidance, provide general skill-based support to create drawings and layouts (primarily utilizing CAD to create those documents) in direct or indirect support of site project activities.Perform responsibilities by assisting higher level technicians and engineers, by standardized work methods or by receiving explicit instructions. Technical adequacy is reviewed with work in progress or soon after completion.Prepare design drawings, including concept sketches and layouts. Review design documents of equipment manufacturers for compatibility and provide comments. Support field inspections to locate existing systems and equipment, verify as-built conditions, and recommend the best approach for modifications. Prepare computer aided design drafting drawings for installation, fabrication, and testing.Other QualificationsAssociates degree in Applied Science (or equivalent) or Computer Aided Design (CAD) CertificateMust be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.Qualifications We DesireAn understanding and familiarity with design drawings such as electrical schematics, electrical single lines, mechanical piping and instruments, civil and vendor documents, and the process required to manage configuration control of the document changes preferred. Experience with MicroStation CAD, File-maker Pro, Microsoft Word, Power-Point, and databases (i.e., Intergraph SmartPlant, Foundation) that document/control specific data/information for the equipment.Note:SRNS is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
