Skills required: Able to care for cardiovascular patient, identify, interpret rhythms, Cardiac Drip Management: nitro, heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine (fixed rate), dobutamine(fixed rate), Cardiac rhythm interpretation, Epidurals, Chest Tubes; Behavior and Personality Fit: The unit places high importance on behavioral and personality alignment. The Nurse Manager seeks a traveler who embodies a respectful, calm, and kind demeanor, values teamwork, and communicates effectively.
Patient Types:
Cardiac and Vascular Care: MI, post-operative open heart surgery (including TAVR and fem-pop bypass within 24 hours), pre- and post-op open-heart patients (24-48 hours post-op), cardiac arrhythmias, Tikosyn therapy, pacemakers, ICDs, and PCU-level patients (requiring higher care but not ICU criteria). Also includes post-cardiac catheterization patients (both femoral and radial approaches with TR bands), carotid and thoracotomy patients transitioning from ICU, microvascular flap procedures (typically not assigned to travelers due to low patient volume), and amputations related to vascular complications.Cardiac Telemetry: Chest pain evaluation, stress testing, heart catheterization, percutaneous interventions, and pacemaker upgrades.Medical OverflowAcuity adaptable unitPatient Ratios: 1:3 (can flex 1:5)
Technology/Equipment: EPIC, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis, Philips monitors portable and bedside
Floating: Medsurg or ICU overflow
Weekend rotation: Every other
No call, but able to pick up extra shift if interested
Holiday Expectations: 2 of 3 holidays can be expected
Scrub Color: Any solid color
