Welder MIG/TIG

Purpose: Designs, fabricates, joins and/or repairs space age metals, scientific and research components using oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG welding techniques.. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Knowledge of welding procedures such as mig, tig, stick & flex coreDo structural and pressure welding as requiredUnderstand welding techniques particularly for welding thick and thin selections together and be proficient in electric or oxyacetylene welding, mig welding, flux core, brazing, soldering, shrinking or sweatingFabricating aluminum, weldments of steel, stainless steel, steel casings and non-ferrous metals.Layout, cut, fit, grind, assemble, and tackUse hand grinder to smooth weld and adjacent surfaces. Judgment is required to select proper tips for welding or cutting and in selection of welding rodsUse complicated blueprints applying welding symbols and welding grooves specifiedConform to all safety procedures and policiesEducation, Experience, Skills and Abilities:High school diploma or equivalent.Certification in weldingAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.Proven trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of materials, methods, practices and tools used in electronic and manufacturing maintenance including reading blueprints and schematics.Knowledge of safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and safety precautions.Knowledge of welding techniques (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG, TIG, controlled atmosphere, and plasma cutting), tools and equipment.Knowledge of non-destructive inspection techniques.Skill in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures.Skill in heat treating and thermo spraying.Training Requirements:Quality Management SystemSafetyLabor ticket entry system (Visual)Physical Demands:Frequent standing, walking, and sitting at workstationOccasional lifting above shoulder level, stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing and pullingMay require to lift up to be able 50#Work Environment:Manufacturing facilityNoise levels can be high depending on the job being run
