This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Campus, Roddey Pavilion 2200 Harden Street Columbia, SC. 29203As the Nurse Supervisor, working under general supervision, you will be responsible for 24 hours/7 days a week supervision of nursing staff in the provision of nursing care to a unit of residents; to include planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and delegating nursing care.Responsibilities for this Nurse Supervisor, Institutional include but are not limited to:Makes daily administrative and clinical rounds to observe and assess nursing care to ensure that nursing standards and facility policy are maintained, while providing for the residents' individual needs. Demonstrates appropriate care techniques as needed.Participates as leader of the multi-disciplinary treatment team to an individualized plan of care for each resident. Makes ongoing nursing assessments and updates plan as necessary.Plans, assign, coordinates, and evaluates work of nursing personnel, including scheduling 24-hour nursing coverage for a designated unit.Assumes leadership and responsibility of CQI activities for assigned unit with the assistance of the CNA C, plans, and provides orientation and continuing education forward personnel, using the facility resource nurse as appropriate.According to OBRA, OSHA, DHEC, and JCAHO standards, monitors ward environment and implements necessary corrective actionAssumes the duties of the Nurse Administrator I during her/his absence.Prepares written reports and records as necessary.Participates in departmental, service and/or facility committees as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of South Carolina Board of Nursing. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional Comments The selected candidate must have the ability to lift up to (50) pounds; ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb at least two or three flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in resident areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive resident behaviors.
