Job Summary

The Program Coordinator will work in the USM Center for Behavioral Health coordinating the Screening, Outreach, Assessment, & Resilience (SOAR) Program. The SOAR Program is a new addition of specialty services in the CBH which is targeted to identify and treat Mississippians at risk for developing psychosis or experiencing early psychosis. The Program Coordinator will be directly responsible for day-to-day operation and management of the SOAR program and may provide clinical services to SOAR Program clients. The Program Coordinator is a grant-funded position through the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA; award number H79SM089799).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Works closely with the Project Director, CBH Director, and program staff to develop and implement infrastructure for the SOAR Program, including but not limited to development and maintenance of waitlist(s), coordination of service protocols and case assignment procedures, medical coding and billing procedures, and SOAR program budgeting

Oversees day-to-day operation and management of SOAR Program services and supports clinical supervision of program staff on an as-needed basis.

Organizes and implements SOAR Program training activities. Coordinates virtual and in-person trainings. Provides training in SOAR Program procedures and supports training by others for specific clinical skill applications.

Assists the Outreach Coordinator in coordinating outreach events and tracks data about outreach activities and outcomes.

Coordinates SOAR Program efforts with team members at the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Mississippi State University, and Open Up Mississippi.

Monitors SAMHSA grant and reporting requirements and develops and maintains data tracking methods to meet those requirements and assist in program evaluation, in partnership with the Program Evaluator.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Fluent in English, written and spoken. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field relevant to mental health (including but not limited to psychology, counseling, social work, etc.). Related education and experience may be substituted on an equal basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to maintain strong collaborative relationships with colleagues and work closely with a team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications

Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time

Strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills as well as knowledge of evidence-based decision making

Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team structure

Ability to operate computer systems, including Internet, Teams, email, databases, and word processing software (Microsoft Office Suite)

Ability to analyze and produce documents such as procedural and training manuals

Familiarity with healthcare settings and HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical licensure (e.g., LPC, LMFT, MSW)

Clinical or programmatic experience working with persons with psychosis or schizophrenia-spectrum disorders

Prior experience working with inter-disciplinary teams in a healthcare setting

Prior experience working with medical coding and billing
