The University of Chicago\'s Department of Surgery, Section of General Surgery seeks full-time faculty members at any rank. The appointees will have expertise in minimally invasive surgical approaches and provide care for general surgery patients with a focus on the surgical management of complex abdominal wall hernias in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Practice locations include both the main Hyde Park campus as well as our offsite affiliated locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
UChicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children\'s Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over \$1.4 billion. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and River East, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery, and 4) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent in Minimally Invasive Surgery.
