HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Responsible for obtaining material, components, equipment or services while optimizing the use of company assets in compliance with company policies, applicable federal laws or regulations governing purchase of goods or interstate commerce. Knowledgeable in assigned commodities and associated supplier base. Upholds the highest level of ethics, integrity, and professionalism while representing Ferrotec and in all purchasing practices. Maintains relations with suppliers on a professional and objective basis, free from the influence of gifts, favors, or personal relationships.
Achievement of objectives must include an overriding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility. Enable and Drive Change in the Organization.
This is a temporary assignment expected to last 6 months with the possibility of extension.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Performs well-defined tasks under the supervision of Purchasing management or a Senior Buyer.
Reviews incoming requisitions for accuracy and completeness; confirms proper authorization signatures.
Initiates quote activity and expedites supplier responses.
Assists in determining effective pricing for purchases of assigned items or commodities through pricing analysis of current or previously purchased item prices or quotes.
Monitors the cost and schedule of assigned subcontracts (blanket purchase orders).
Interfaces with suppliers and supplier representatives, periodically visits suppliers’ facilities to evaluate their compatibility with Ferrotec’s requirements, goals, and objectives.
Monitors and coordinates “return to vendor” (RTV) activity to insure best possible corrective action.
Interfaces with other departments regarding delivery status, specifications, pricing, quantity, or quality issues.
Communicates with planning to determine the best course of action for problem deliveries.
Works with a Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager on delivery improvements and cost savings.
Responsible for one or more commodities such as precision machined parts, sheet metal fabrications, magnets, ball bearings, MRO, service contracts, purchase, or lease of capital equipment.
Is familiar with and utilizes a variety of acquisition methods such as spot buying, blanket orders, supplier stocking options, and service contracts to obtain needed supplies and materials in the most cost-effective manner.
Maintains data and reports on assigned commodity/suppliers (performance, capacity, lead-time, and price) as required by management.
Determines specific receipt timetables and quantities to support indicated and expected demands while being accountable for company cost and inventory goals.
Suggests and implements improvements to purchasing practices, supplier management processes, MRP options and internal processes by communicating suggestions and implementing appropriately.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 2 years’ experience.
Problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work independently and exercises the discretion to make sound decisions.
Preferred Skills:
Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English and Chinese desired.
