The Transportation Manager oversees all activities associated with transportation including carrier selection, rate negotiations, freight audit and payment, cost controls, and functional reporting and developing transportation relationships. This position will ensure all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations, communicating effectively with internal and external customers, and responding to their requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accountable to generate savings year over year while driving continuous improvement. Drive all freight optimization efforts and report on opportunities to reduce costs and ensure appropriate execution

Working closely with other key business segments to ensure the supply base is effectively serving internal and external customer needs

Assess the transportation environment in the short, medium, and long term and identify trends that will impact PS Seasoning

Develop and deploy KPIs reflecting areas of improvement or success

Manage damage and lost freight claims. Ensure consistent oversight and execution

Review and assess the logistics network to identify changes in practices in order to optimize logistics execution and costs

Negotiate contracts and ensure all Logistics contracts have established transportation metrics and KPI's

Create and manage Standard Operating Procedures with the carriers. Ability to investigate and troubleshoot flow /process issues

Ensure compliance with shipping regulations for fluids, packaging, labeling, and other applicable requirements

Develop service level agreements inside existing contracts to ensure supplier performance through scorecards. Conduct Annual Reviews as necessary

Performs analysis and comparison of freight rates to determine the most economical and efficient means to deliver product and Lead RFP/RFQ initiatives. Add new carriers when needed

Conduct needs analysis, form strategies, and align expectations with internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Preparing and giving presentations to leadership as necessary and Ad hoc assignments as needed

Provide feedback for continuous improvement ideas to management and executive team

Manage lost and delayed shipments as well as manage and approve invoices

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business or equivalent work experience required.

At least 5 years' experience in Transportation and Logistics services in strategic and tactical operations with an extensive domestic and some international presence.

3 years' experience leading/mentoring teams or leading large-scale projects.

Experience with tariffs and rating methodologies (rates amp; services).

Experience and understanding of freight contracts.

Experience and understanding of carrier operations.

Experience in logistics analysis.

Knowledge of transportation regulations, pricing, operations, and regulatory programs.

Advanced knowledge of freight and transportation tariff rates/surcharges.

Demonstrated ability to write standard operating procedures and work instructions including demonstrated process improvement and systematic process improvement skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

High level of professional integrity and discretion.
