WSP is currently initiating a search for a Water Resources Area Manager for our Minneapolis, MN office to advance our client care program, lead strategic pursuits, lead and build our water resources group, and serve as senior project manager for projects.
The successful candidate will drive agency client growth including acting as pursuit manager leading strategic pursuits. This position will be focused on positioning WSP as the preferred and trusted choice for our water and transportation clients, employees, and business partners. In this position, you will passionately support the Minnesota office leadership team through WSP’s strategically focused four pillars of success: People & Culture, Clients, Operational Excellence, and Expertise. You will be an external face of WSP leveraging local and national resources to deliver significant value to our clients. This individual will have significant involvement and input in the overall strategic plan to grow the water resources practice and increase our technical delivery skills, project management practices and business development activities.

A major part of this role includes developing, implementing, and managing projects and strategies from the early pursuit planning stages through the scoping, development, design, and eventual project delivery. Reporting to the Midwest Water District Manager, this position will focus on growth and expansion of WSP’s client base and will play a significant role in delivering all aspects of profit and loss, including revenue generation, project margin, project staffing, workload forecasting, project delivery, staff utilization, quality and safety.

Your Impact
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads Minnesota water resources team, emphasizing employee training and development to create a unique work experience.
Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Local, District, Region, and National Business Lines.
Holds pursuit teams accountable in executing pursuit strategies and completing assigned action items in the execution of the pursuit strategy.
Advances the strategic direction of the Minnesota office and positions WSP for sustained and continued growth.
Leverages WSP’s broad technical local and national experience to enhance current and new service offerings.
Performs engineering design services, plan, coordinate and supervise routine projects and personnel
Collaborates with clients on specific projects
Supervises work performed by engineers and hydrogeologists
Be responsible for technical analysis and accuracy of work done under their supervision
Prepares technical reports for projects
Prepares project proposals, manage project budgets and fulfill administrative and training requirements
Assists with business development efforts to expand our Water Clients in the Minnesota market
Works with a team and be self-motivated to handle multiple projects and tasks with time constraints
Exhibits personal initiative, dependability, and punctuality

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resource Engineering
10+ years professional experience in stormwater design, drainage, and hydrogeologic assessment
Demonstrated leadership experience – personally accountable, persistent, and goal-orientated.
Project/client management experience
Registered as professional engineer in MN, or the ability to do so within 3 months.
Working understanding of water resources
Strong verbal and technical writing skills
Involvement in professional and/or client-based associations
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
