Under general supervision, provide professional advising to students working in part-time jobs on and off campus to support the development of transferrable skills for career-related progression. Advising topics include how to find a job, resume/cover letter writing, and interview preparation. Help students identify their interests, skills, values, and strengths so they can understand how these factors relate to academic/career choice and satisfaction.

Work with on-campus employers to provide professional development for student employees to ensure they are making intentional career-related progress while enrolled. Provide guidance for departments regarding employment policy and best practices for onboarding, compensation, training, and evaluation. Develops and presents workshops, seminars, instructional offerings, and information meetings related to internship and career services. Collaborates with faculty and academic departments on programs and events supporting student professional development.Apply By DateNovember 21, 2024 at 11:59pmQualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in humanities, social sciences, economics/business, agriculture, engineering, biology, or any major related to fields associated with professions UCD students may seek.Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Qualtrics, and familiarity with Handshake (or comparable system).Experience teaching and/or conducting workshops or presenting information in small and large group settings (200+) for students, employers and campus partners. Experience collaborating with stakeholders to organize job responsibilities.Experience in the development of experiential education programs including working with host sites or employers (such as UC Davis). Experience designing, organizing and delivering career service programs such as networking events and employer information sessions.Demonstrated advising experience. Skills to advise students from a wide array of backgrounds and identities concerning their career goals, career planning, experiential education, labor market information, and placement into internship, Federal Work-Study, part-time and career positions.Knowledge of employment options and specific requirements for employment in a broad spectrum of careers associated with UC Davis majors. Skills to network, build and maintain relationships with alumni and employers on-campus and off. Skills to develop and maintain part-time jobs internship positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors for undergraduate and graduate students.Written and oral communication skills to respond to stakeholders on behalf of the Career Center and assist students with writing for the job search (cover letters, resumes, LinkedIn profiles, etc.). including part-time jobs on-campus. Skills to respond to needs of ethnically and culturally diverse students and alumni, as well as sensitivity to the needs of underrepresented students and scholars in general.Skills to thrive and make meaningful contributions in a collaborative environment; skills to work well with others, and flexibility to contribute daily to programmatic and center-wide activities. Skills to give guidance, train, and evaluate performance of peer advisors. Experience working independently to accomplish goals.
