Position Overview:Responsible for leading LTL (less than truckload) shipping operation by prioritizing shipments in order to optimize delivery to internal and external customers. Prioritizes and directs work activity for LTL shipping operation to ensure efficient use of capacity. Supports overall shipping operation.Duties & Responsibilities:Directs LTL shipping operation by prioritizing shipments in order to optimize delivery to internal and external customersEstablishes LTL shipping priorities for 24-hour operationsEnsures product availability for LTL loads via collaboration with PIC, purchasing, and other departmentsCommunicates material shortages and quality issues to those affectedDispatches and bills LTL loads by coordinating with third-party carriers and Transportation DepartmentManages LTL ticket processing and communicates shipment status to internal departmentsEnsures compliance with special shipping instructions specific to carriersAssists in maintaining the shipping dock load scheduleVerifies accuracy on pick list prior to forwarding to accountingAssists with inventory control and cycle counting operationsIssues parts requests to internal departments and off-site storage locationsAssists with coordinating, shipping, and receiving subcontract transfers and outsource supplier transfersAssists supervisor with load prioritization, shipping productivity, dispatching, and billing loadsSupports load crews with information on material status, location, and printsReceives third-party drivers and communicates load status updatesManages add-on orders from Fleet/Distributor Services to ensure accuracy of customer shipmentsMaintains part shortage list and follow-up process to ensure fulfillmentUpdates department performance metric charts on a daily basisInvestigates and completes shipping shortage reportsPosition does not have direct reports

Position Requirements:Candidate must possess good mathematical aptitude and organizational skills to work at a high level of accuracy. Must have good working knowledge of inventory transactions and possess PC skills. Individual needs good problem solving and communication skills to interact with personnel at all levels. Must have the aptitude to learn the AS400 operating system. Familiar with Microsoft office including word and excel. Effectively communicate via email and telephonic communications.Physical/Mental Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:Normal standing, bending, walking and lifting in an office environment. Must have the ability to communicate at all levels and the ability to function in a dynamic environment while performing multiple tasks. Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
