Job Description
The Sr & Principal Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for the full software development life cycle.
Working on a small team and leading programs, the Embedded Systems Engineer will be tasked with architecture development, implementation, code reviews, and testing.
Essential Duties:
Oversee the Entire Software Development Life Cycle: From capturing requirements to software architecture, implementation, and testing within the Medical Device sector.
Develop Project Software Plans: Utilize either agile or waterfall methodologies to create comprehensive development plans.
Collaborate with Program Management: Work together to create precise software project schedules.
Provide Architectural Guidance: Mentor engineers, evaluate new technologies, and establish best practices.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams.
Translate High-Level Requirements: Assist the software development team in converting high-level requirements into detailed specifications and support the documented software architecture.
Ensure Architectural Compliance: Participate in code and design reviews to verify that the architecture is implemented as planned.
Embedded Linux Development: Focus on user space application development and maintenance.
User Interface Development: Develop and sustain user interface applications.
Hard Skills
C++ (version 14 & 17)
RTOS (open to any platform)
Microcontroller experience (STM family or any microcontroller)
Development in the Medical Device industry
QT/QML or similar UI software
Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Orange, California and some days remote.
Work Environment
Medical Device R&D site with 40 team members nationally and 12 locally. Engineering team consists of Software, Firmware & Hardware.
