A Brief OverviewReporting to the Executive Director of the Foundation, the Development Officer plays an integral role in growing philanthropy at the Regional One Health system during a time of critical and exciting growth. The DO manage a robust prospect portfolio (cultivates, solicits and stewards donors and prospective donors) in order to meet ambitiously defined fundraising goals. Must be a self-starter, strategic thinker, collaborative colleague and possess strong relationship-building, written and oral communication skills, and a passion for healthcare and serving others. Must initiate and maintain a high number of significant donor relationships while exercising discretion and demonstrating a passion for thoughtful engagement with others from differing backgrounds. It is intended that this position will be enabled to grow in responsibilities with demonstrated success in it; professional development opportunities will be provided to bolster that growth.What you will do1. Responsible for delivering on core fundraising metrics including early prospect outreach (cold calling), face-to-face visits, identification of new prospects, growth in cumulative giving, dollars raised, and donors secured.2. Proactively manage a consistently shifting portfolio of prospects, with independent responsibility to develop and execute strategies which engage, provide primary source information, secure visits, and establish early visit solicitation and investment that leverage the donor's interests and connect them to ROH's opportunities.3. Guided by the direction and scope of a prospect's interest, actively collaborate with foundation colleagues to establish appropriate engagement strategies.4. Within the context of institutional priorities, secure and/or guide the development of written collateral materials for engaging prospects and securing gifts.5. Work effectively in the ROH prospect management and tracking system (Raiser's Edge NXT).6. Establish working relationships with various clinical faculty and hospital administration as needed to advance fundraising opportunities.7. Work with development colleagues, volunteers and academic leaders to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts.8. Travel when necessary to execute strategic development plans.9. Ensure proper stewardship and recognition of donors in a portfolio.10. Serve as a resource to development colleagues regarding fundraising opportunities.11. Adapt duties to best fit the needs of a newly-created-and-consistently-evolving department.QualificationsBachelor's Degree RequiredAdvanced Degree PreferredMinimum 2 years experience in fundraising or a related field RequiredExperience in Healthcare or a similarly complex environment is a plus
