Overview
The Material Handler is responsible for performing an array of duties such as loading, unloading and transporting materials to and from jobsites. This is considered to be a safety sensitive position.Responsibilities
Assist electricians during the installation of new electrical systems or repair and maintain electrical systems.
May be required to obtain equipment certification to operate material handling equipment.May be submitted as an approved Bergelectric driver to receive and deliver materials.They must be in compliance with state and local codes.Must interact with clients, vendors, and Bergelectric employee in a professional manor.Using a variety of hand and power tools, helper electricians productively and safely install electrical and low voltage material.Duties include cleanup activity, gathering and transporting materials and tools to electricians on the construction project.Qualifications
Under the direction of the project foreman, receive, organize, and safely deliver material to the workforce.Clean and dispose of trash as directed by supervisors.Physical Demands
May work either inside or outside in any weather (Cold, Snow, Rain, Heat)Work is sometimes noisy, cramped, dirty and poorly ventilated.Hazards include risk of electrical shock and other worksite accidents.40-hour workweek is normal, though overtime is to be expected; electricians may work nights, weekends, on-call, or on emergenciesLift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.Must make use of feet, legs, hands and arms to climb and/or balance on scaffolding or ladders.Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, sometimes in cramped and awkward positions.Must have use of arms and fingers to reach and handle material, tools and other equipment.Must be able to work off of ladders, man lifts, or reach booms, or other equipment previously certified to operate.Must be able to see and hear or have corrected vision and hearing.Must be able to distinguish color coded wires.Working Environment
A variety of weather conditions including cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.High noise levels.
Salary Range
USD $20.00 - USD $23.00 /Hr.
