Job Overview
The Special Education Inclusion Coordinator will lead and manage the development, monitoring, and implementation of 504 Plans and Student Support Team (SST) Plans across grades K-12. This role is essential in facilitating Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings each quarter, identifying students needing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, and collaborating with teachers and staff to provide in-class support and accommodations. Working closely with our school psychologist and Special Education (SPED) director, the coordinator will also help design and deliver professional development for staff. Additionally, this position may serve as an administrative representative in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
Key Responsibilities
- SST Coordination
- Oversee the SST process across all grades (TK-12), including scheduling, sending meeting notices and surveys to parents and teachers, creating intervention materials, and following up with stakeholders.
- Facilitate SST meetings, track timelines, ensure accurate record-keeping, and monitor SST plan effectiveness.
- Develop and lead professional development for SHPS staff on SST processes and implementation.
- 504 Plan Management
- Maintain comprehensive records and oversee compliance with 504 plans, ensuring all 504 documentation is complete and legally compliant.
- Identify eligible students based on medical diagnoses or special education assessments.
- Schedule and facilitate annual 504 meetings and triennial re-evaluations, updating plans as needed to reflect student progress.
- Track all 504-related discipline data and collaborate with the Inclusion Dean on manifestation determinations.
- Special Education and Compliance
- Ensure appropriate delivery of special education services and accommodations outlined in 504 plans, monitoring through observations, service logs, and intervention data.
- Serve as an administrative designee in assigned IEP meetings, providing input and ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations.
- Monitor student discipline data and communicate any necessary compliance actions to the Inclusion Dean.
- Additional Support
- Assist with virtual service supervision (e.g., teletherapy) and on-site supervision duties as assigned (e.g., breakfast, lunch, dismissal).
- Respond to teacher requests for in-class support, helping implement strategies to accommodate students within the classroom.
