Server Technician

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a highly motivated Server Lab Technician who can setup, organize, manage, maintain hardware/equipment in racks and work in a server lab environment. Requests will come in from worldwide engineering teams, as well as customers. Duties will include, but not limited to: setup hardware, firmware, and software for test automation development. Triage server hardware failures on production and pre-production test systems. Image and install operating systems (Windows & Linux) onto servers/workstations on the LAN as assigned by the team, and ensuring work is documented for future reference. Follow regular equipment maintenance schedules, updating System BIOS, iLO, BMC, etc. Run and maintain scripts to get hardware (servers) up & ready for automation. Other duties as logically associated with position may be assigned. This role will be onsite Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (1 hour lunch).

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a server related role
• Experience with Linux and Windows OS (install & setup)
• Able to make network cables, debug cable issues, and connect to hardware for debugging
• Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks, perform under pressure and meet deadlines
• Can troubleshoot hardware issues on servers, network switches, serial console switches, etc.
• Ability to move heavy equipment/servers (40-60lbs)
• Ability to work in a loud lab environment (server fans - hearing protection will be provided)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with OEM server hardware a major plus
• Skilled in using lab test equipment like Digital Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Logic Analyzer a plus (testing hardware)
• VMWare experience PowerShell, JavaScript
