Senior Sustainability Consultant - Energy Modeling

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant - Energy Modeler, you will join the High-Performance Solutions Team, focusing on advanced building energy modeling and sustainability analysis for regional projects and potentially landmark initiatives worldwide. In line with the firm’s commitment to the MEP 2040 Challenge, you will play a key role in advancing our electrification and decarbonization strategies by providing expert consultation to colleagues and clients. You will frequently collaborate with other HPS team members and MEP engineers both locally and across the firm on various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct whole building energy modeling (IES-VE required)
  • Analyze energy efficiency measures
  • Develop Net Zero Energy/Carbon roadmaps
  • Provide support for green building certifications (LEED, WELL, LBC, RESET, etc.)
  • Perform renewable energy analyses
  • Assist with incentive and rebate program applications
  • Consult on beneficial electrification
  • Conduct Life Cycle Cost Analysis
  • Execute energy audits
  • Understand and apply local and national energy codes and policies
  • Offer support and guidance on sustainability strategies, energy efficiency measures, innovative technologies, voluntary rating standards, and industry trends
  • Present training sessions internally and externally
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and MEP design engineers to create energy and water efficiency strategies and system approaches, focusing on high-performance HVAC, plumbing, and electrical/lighting systems.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will specialize in energy modeling or Title 24, applying relevant industry knowledge and staying current with tools and trends in sustainability strategies and energy efficiency. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to read and evaluate architectural and engineering drawings and visualize 3D models
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with simulation and modeling tools (primarily IESVE and CA Title-24 compliance tools like EnergyPro and CBECC; additional tools may include Windows, COMFEN, Climate Consultant, Sefaira, Cove.tool, eQuest, EnergyPlus, PVWATTS)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a consulting firm focused on energy modeling
  • Basic understanding of system selection and applicable building codes
  • Knowledge of LEED and WELL design principles
  • LEED accredited and WELL accredited or on track to achieve accreditation
