Geographic Information Systems Analyst

Specialized Recruiting Group is hiring a GIS Analyst for a full-time contract position with the local municipal government in Durham, NC.

As a GIS Analyst you would provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services and support by creating GIS Web applications; gathering, field-verifying, and distributing data; creating custom maps; and installing, configuring, and maintaining GIS software.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) contract position with a pay rate of $27-$28/hour. The contract has no specific end-date and is effectively open-ended, as well as offering the possibility of conversion.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in assessing GIS development, design, and plan implementation.
• Develop and maintain enterprise level GIS data by acquiring and utilizing source documents for data input of geographic location and attribute information as well as ensuring data integrity by developing QA/QC workflows.
• Provides GIS application support by gathering user requirements; providing enhancements to the GIS database; ensuring data integrity configuring applications and databases; creating standard and custom maps; responding to user-identified problems; monitoring application performance and usage; updating data; and installing upgrades.
• Conducts field investigations to verify data prior to inputting or updating in the GIS database.
• Oversees requests by processing, analyzing, and distributing data and providing custom mapping services, as well as training and directing the work of other GIS users such as GIS Technicians.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Surveying, or Computer Science
• Experience using ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro.
• GIS data maintenance experience specific to municipal utilities infrastructure, i.e. stormwater, water, and sewer systems.
• Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
• Valid NC Class C Driver's License is required.
