Our client a top tier Buyside in the Miami, FL, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring over six years of experience in data analysis, with a strong focus on financial markets, investment performance, and portfolio analytics. This role is critical to driving data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making across the firm’s investment activities.
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will collaborate closely with portfolio managers, traders, and research teams to optimize investment strategies, enhance risk management, and support operational efficiencies. You will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets, developing predictive models, and delivering actionable insights that drive portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover trends, identify risks, and provide insights on investment opportunities.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and evaluate the performance of investment portfolios, conducting deep-dive analyses to identify drivers of returns and risks.
- Model Development: Develop and maintain predictive models to forecast investment performance, track market trends, and assess portfolio risk.
- Data Visualization: Create compelling dashboards, reports, and visual presentations of key insights for stakeholders, including senior management, portfolio managers, and investors.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with portfolio managers, traders, and research teams to inform investment decisions and develop data-driven strategies.
- Automation & Efficiency: Streamline data collection, cleansing, and analysis processes by implementing automation and utilizing advanced tools for faster insights delivery.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure that all data analysis practices align with the firm’s risk management policies and regulatory requirements.
- Data Governance: Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, governance, and management to ensure the integrity of the firm’s analytics infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in a data analysis role, preferably within the finance or investment industry, with a buyside focus.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Technical Skill*:
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and VBA.
- Advanced Excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling.
- Experience with financial analysis platforms and portfolio management systems (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Aladdin).
- Knowledge of database management systems and tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView) for data visualization and reporting.
- Financial Expertise: Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, portfolio theory, and risk management principles.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large datasets to deliver clear, actionable insights.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data findings in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a buyside environment (hedge funds, asset management, private equity, etc.).
- Familiarity with advanced statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and financial modeling.
- Knowledge of fixed income, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments.
