Spectroscopy Data Scientist (Early/Mid Career)

Job Description:
- Collect and process spectral data (e.g., FTIR, Raman, X-ray, Mass spectrometry, etc.), including noise reduction, baseline correction, normalization, and feature extraction.
- Develop and apply statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools to process large datasets and extract meaningful insights. Understand acquired data with professional interpretation and analysis.
- Provide regular summaries and reports to internal teammates and cross-functional team based on the analyzed results.
- Collaborate with teammates for other in-house analytical tests when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on spectroscopy and data analysis.
- 3+ years of experience in spectroscopy data analysis OR Master’s degree and 1+ years of experience. Strong background in various spectroscopy techniques (e.g., NMR, FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, MS).
- Hand-on experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, time series and 2D data analysis applied to scientific data.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data processing and statistical analysis.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex data sets and analytical challenges in spectroscopy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical results to non-expert stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge and experience in battery materials and process
- Comprehensive knowledge in characterization techniques
- Proficiency in JMP
This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is between $97,900 and $120,000, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
