Society of Exploration Geophysicists
Spectroscopy Data Scientist (Early/Mid Career)
Society of Exploration Geophysicists, San Jose, California, United States, 95199
Description:
QuantumScape developed the industry’s first anode-less cell design, which delivers high energy density while lowering material costs and simplifying manufacturing. Our innovative battery cell technology can store energy more efficiently and reliably than today’s lithium-ion batteries.Job Description:Collect and process spectral data (e.g., FTIR, Raman, X-ray, Mass spectrometry, etc.), including noise reduction, baseline correction, normalization, and feature extraction.Develop and apply statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools to process large datasets and extract meaningful insights. Understand acquired data with professional interpretation and analysis.Provide regular summaries and reports to internal teammates and cross-functional team based on the analyzed results.Collaborate with teammates for other in-house analytical tests when necessary.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on spectroscopy and data analysis.3+ years of experience in spectroscopy data analysis OR Master’s degree and 1+ years of experience. Strong background in various spectroscopy techniques (e.g., NMR, FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, MS).Hand-on experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, time series and 2D data analysis applied to scientific data.Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data processing and statistical analysis.Ability to troubleshoot complex data sets and analytical challenges in spectroscopy.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical results to non-expert stakeholders.Nice to have:Knowledge and experience in battery materials and process.Comprehensive knowledge in characterization techniques.Proficiency in JMP.This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.
