Manufacturing Engineer

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for all Process Engineering activities supporting TREMEC manufacturing. This includes working in coordination with Industrial Engineering, Controls Engineering, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide the necessary resources to assist and support daily production in problem resolution (e.g. quality issues, downtime, operator training, problem solving, etc.).
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to ensure the plant achieves all its business objectives in safety, quality, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Support the planning, design concepting, specification writing, procurement, evaluation, optimization, installation, commissioning, and overall project management of all new industrial equipment to support new product and ongoing production requirements. This includes assembly facilities, machines, automation, conveyance, assembly stations, tooling, fixtures, gaging, testing, torque equipment, and all process controls to assemble world class powertrain components and transmissions.
  • Establish all process and execution plans for all product engineering changes and new product launches, including process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Support all maintenance activities to support production and the facility, with an emphasis in flawless execution in Preventative and Predictive Maintenance mindset to maximize machine uptime and availability.
  • Align production, engineering, and maintenance objectives to properly determine the critical spare tooling and machine components to have on hand, while minimizing inventory costs and production downtime.
  • Promote collaborative teamwork within and among outside departments to help establish a world class manufacturing organization.
  • Support program management and launch planning and execution.
  • Ensure and enforce team members’ compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Promote continuous development:

Identify the need for training within the department together with HR based on the gaps to the competency matrix.

Develop individual training / development plans.

Work with direct supervisor on establishing career plans.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Promote the culture of respect and application to organizational values.

Other duties as assigned by Lead Manufacturing Engineer and Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

REQUIREMENTS PROFILE:

Professional Background / Basic Qualifications / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing/assembly.

Technical Expertise:

  • Lean Manufacturing and JIT production system implementation.
  • Working level knowledge in AutoCAD, automation, robotics, vision systems, torque systems, press systems, test systems, machine controls and human/machine interface systems, IT infrastructure, MES, simulation, and maintenance management systems.
  • Experience in industrial processes including VA/VE, New Model Launch, APQP, PFMEA and Control Plans, WHMIS, OHSA regulations, Pre-Start & Health & Safety reviews,
  • Knowledge of material flow concepts, lean layout, ergonomics, quality systems, tooling systems, gaging systems including GD&T are a must.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
