JOB – Senior Staff Electrical Engineer

LOCATION - San Diego, CA

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - $160,000 - $180,000 per annum + bonus and ESOs.

My client - an industry leading manufacturing of complex medical devices is seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to join their forward thinking team.

We’re looking for a hands-on problem-solver with a passion for driving creative and systematic product development.

The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design, development, and leadership of embedded systems, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design for medical devices.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in FPGAs and Digital Signal Processing.
  • Proficiency in digital logic design using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR part 820 regulatory processes.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership within hardware development for the medical device sector
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 Electrical Safety Standards and design principles for product certification.

The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer's role will involve:

  • Leading technical feasibility studies and performing comprehensive risk assessments at the system and product levels.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to architect hardware solutions that meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Developing and refining solutions in mixed analog/digital environments, incorporating amplifiers, FPGAs, and microcontrollers.
  • Crafting detailed product validation strategies and identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Coordinating with vendors to specify, source, and manage prototype and pilot run fabrication of printed circuit assemblies.
  • Conducting engineering analysis and rigorous testing to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Designing, documenting, and implementing robust testing protocols and processes based on analytical data.
  • Facilitating and leading technical reviews of new and existing designs to drive continuous enhancement.
  • Providing mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers while guiding them through project development.
  • Supporting production teams, addressing quality issues, and spearheading initiatives for product improvements.
  • Developing a clear technology vision that aligns with company objectives and gaining buy-in from leadership and team members.
